Statue created - 1667-1668
The statue is part of a group of 16 built between May 1667 and July 1668.

Sculptor - Lazzaro Morelli
The chiaroscuro of the drapery favors an attribution to Morelli.

Height - 3.1 m. (10ft 4in) travertine
The statue has its protype in the Farnese Hercules.

Nilammon was a hermit who died in Egypt. It was believed that he refused an appointment to be a Bishop of Geres, and then locked himself in his cell. His listing was removed from the Roman Martyrology 2001.
