I am writing in reference to your request
for a reservation for 2 people to visit the excavations
under St. Peter’s Basilica.
Considering the number of requests, it is
important to confirm the reservation following the procedure
described above.
The visit, conducted only by our authorized
guides, lasts about an hour and a half. Each
group consists of about 12 people who must be at least 15
years old (exception will be made for children between 11-15
years old accompanied by a parent).

Day of the tour: Thursday 15 April, 2004
Time of the tour: 3:00pm
Individual ticket: Euro 10,00
Total cost for 2 tickets: 20,00 Euro
Tickets are purchased
at the Excavations Office. Tickets are purchased at the
Excavations Office. You pay 10 minutes prior to the time
of the tour.
At least 5 days before the visit it is
necessary to confirm the reservations by E-Mail mailto:scavi@fsp.va

Phone or by Fax. If not, the reservation will be canceled
and the your places will be given to other visitors.
In case you must cancel
your visit, you are kindly asked to inform the Excavations
Office immediately.
Since you failed to give us your address in
Rome, please advise us where you are staying in Rome (Name
and phone) where we can leave further messages for you.
The Excavation Office reserves the right to
modify the schedules of the visits in case that the Basilica
is closed and for other reasons. If the visit cannot be
rescheduled, the Excavations Office will cancel the scheduled
visit and refund any payments made.
Please use the Reference Number 25998 in all
future correspondence concerning this visit to the excavations.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1. Before coming to the Excavations Office you must
check-in all cumbersome belongings (back-packs, cameras,
bags, etc.) the BAGGAGE DEPOSIT, located at the right side
of the basilica. Custodians are there to watch your belongings,
and the service is free. The visit to the excavations ends
near that place
Failing to check-in your belongings, will
forfeit your reservation to enter the excavations.
2. After leaving the Baggage DEPOSIT, please
come to the Excavations Office. There are two ways i reach
the Office: A) to the left side of the Façade of the Basilica
through the Arco della Campan; B) outside the left colonnade
from Via Paolo VI . It is necessary to speak with the Swiss
Guard begore entering.
3. One should be dressed in a way befitting
entrance to a holy place.
