Tomb of Trebellena Flaccilla (Tomb T)

From: 'Guide to the Vatican Necropolis' by Michele Basso, Fabbrica di S. Pietro

Tomb T contains evidence of some cineraria, as well as interments. There are some finely decorated niches with images of birds and flowers; the niches are separated by small stucco columns on a brightly-coloured background. There are some picturesque details, such as a dolphin wound round a trident and a vase between two doves.

In a cinerarium inscribed "Trebellenae Flaccilae Valeria Taecina Matri dulcissimae fecit" was found a small bronze coin of the early Constantinian era with the inscription "Soli invicto comiti"; it can easily be traced to the Maxentian age.
