St. Candida - Martyr

Feastday - 3 October

Statue carved - 1667-1668
It is part of a group of 16 statues installed between May 1667 and July 1668.

Sculptor - unknown
The rough modeling reveals the hand of a mediocre sculptor who cannot be identified with anyone working during this time.

Height - 3.1 m. (10ft 4in) travertine
Due to the poor quality of the travertine, the statue has undergone significant restoration.

This saint was a martyr buried in the Catacombs of Pontian on the Via Portuense.
